MIAMI BEACH—The body of gay financier Louis Piper, 61, was found decomposing in a pool of blood in a bathroom in his lush Miami Beach condo, the victim of a stabbing. Neighbors of Piper, who was the VP of commercial acquisitions for Bayview Asset Management in Coral Gables, became suspicious when a stench began to emanate from the condo. His lover, 30-year-old Jonathan Alonso, with whom he had previously had disputes, was arrested April 8 at Museum Park.
Alonso was in possession of Piper’s credit cards and had cuts and abrasions on his hands and neck. He was arrested and taken to county jail, where he is being held without bond on a first-degree murder charge.
According to the Miami Herald, police arrived at the condo to find a grisly scene. Blood stained the floor, the walls, the bed and several knives. In a bathroom, Piper lay in a pool of blood, unidentifiable from decomposition. It looked like he had struggled with his killer.
Piper not been to work for four days. His condominium at the Sunset Harbour South condominium complex on Sunset Harbour Drive in Miami Beach is still sealed with crime tape as the scene of an active murder investigation.
