MIAMI–ABC News correspondent Gio Benitez is officially a married man.
The host of Fusion’s edition of Nightline is based in New York, but he selected his hometown of Miami for his wedding to fiancé Tommy DiDario at the historic Walton House, an English cottage built in 1917 and surrounded by seven acres of gardens. Benitez and DiDario met on the social app Instagram .
DiDario is a graduate of NYU and manages on-line social-media strategies. He is also a model with the Bella Agency in New York and acted in an episode of Broad City, on Comedy Central. He graduated from N.Y.U.
Benitez made headlines when he dropped to one knee on a rain-soaked pavement in front of the Eiffel Tower last September to propose. While that moment was private (except for the professional photographer hired to capture the moment), the wedding was attended by 160 friends and family including weatherman Sam Champion.
Romantic detail: For their first dance as a married couple, they selected Il Volo’s cover of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from Disney’s The Lion King.
