Several LGBT news sources, trying to find out more information on the suicide of 17-year old Terrel Williams that was originally posted on Change.org last Wednesday, October 13 is now believed to be a hoax perpetrated by unknown individuals. LGBTQNation. com was one of the first LGBT websites to pick up on the Change.org posting and the original story received national attention on various cable news programs. LGBTQNation now says, after doing more research on the suicide, they found that the photograph used on Williams’ Facebook page and on his memorial Twitter page is that of Donny Lumpkins, an individual who is alive and unrelated to this story.

LGBTQNation finally reported that “Additional findings over the past 24 hours have led us to conclude that this story is a hoax — the result of internet pranksters with nothing better to do than to fabricate stories about such a serious issue as teen suicides. We won’t comment on this story further so as not to dignify it with any additional attention. We were duped — we apologize to our readers, and to Mr. Lumpkins.”
