MIAMI – A series of 14 competitions kicked off last week, as part of Celebrate ORGULLO, a festival showcasing Hispanic LGBT Pride, during September’s Hispanic Heritage Month.
Orgullo (Spanish for “Pride”) will coincide with events throughout the country to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 to October 15. The producer of the Celebrate ORGULLO Festival is the Unity Coalition, a Florida 501(c)(3) non-profit focusing since 2002 on the leadership, protection, and promotion of Hispanic LGBTQ rights.
The dance competitions take place at various mostly Miami-Dade establishments, with the last preliminary event held September 29 at The Manor Restaurant and Complex in Wilton Manors. The winning couple from each preliminary venue will compete onstage at Celebrate ORGULLO on October 6, where the audience and judges will select the Grand Prize winners.
