BREAST CANCER AWARENESS FUNDRAISER

Dennis Dean Galleries is hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness and fund-raising event on Saturday, October 23 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in support of Dennis Dean’s sister, Donna who has Stage IV Triple Negative Breast Cancer. The Dennis Dean Gallery is located at 2440-B Wilton Drive (above New Moon) in Wilton Manors. Special guest is Bosom Buddy Betty from Susan G. Komen for the Cure. There will be a silent auction and $10 raffle tickets sold so you will have many opportunities to win fantastic prizes.

LITTLE GALA OF HORRORS

Broward House presents their annual “Spirit of Hope” awards at “Little Gala of Horrors” on Thursday, October 21 from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at the Signature Grand Maison in Davie. The evening will be hosted by Nikki Adams and CBS 4 reporter, Ted Scouten. Music will be provided by D.J. Herbie James with a special performance by Kevin Black Productions. The evening will include a full premium open bar all night, Las Vegas–style casino, sit down dinner, silent and live auctions, music and dancing, entertainment and a pre-dinner reception. To be honored this year are Congressman Ron Klein, Jackson Padgett and Mark Negrete (owners of Georgie’s Alibi), Michael Barry (of the Signature Grand), Bruce Chasking and Bruce Silverstein (owners of Group Benefits Concepts, Inc.) and the Leiser Foundation. AIDS Healthcare Foundation and Out of the Closet have announced a 2010 Jeans for Life campaign. Everyone has jeans they don’t wear anymore and Out of the Closet needs them. The Jeans for Life program is a fun, easy way for everyone to donate toward the care of people living with HIV/AIDS. Drop off your donated jeans at: Sidelines Sports Bar, Georgie’s Alibi, Bill’s, New Moon and Rosie’s Bar and Grill from Nov. 1st through 15th. When you place them in the Jeans for Life bin you will be helping support both local and global HIV initiatives.

EXPLORE EXPO/TASTE OF MIAMI

The Explore Expo and Taste of Miami will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive in Miami Beach on Saturday, October 23rd from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. and Taste of Miami runs from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Expo is being held by the Miami- Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and is being held in conjunction with chamber member International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association. Admission to the Expo is free and tickets for Taste of Miami are on sale now ($45 advance/$60 at the door). SAVE Dade presents: Hellrotika: Circus of Lost Souls, the 16th Annual Halloween Extravaganza, is being held on Sat., Oct. 30 starting at 8 p.m. at The Awarehouse, 550 NW 29th Street in Miami. This year’s event is envisioned as a perfect combination of dance party, mingling forum and themed spectacle, with an aim to attract a diverse group of individuals from within the community. Event guests will be treated to an immersive, multi-media experience with macabre “circus” performances, a costume contest, food vendors and the latest dance music played by world-class deejays.
