Mexico-based production company Act II Entertainment will be holding a fundraising memorial in honor of the late Scott Weston, who went by the stage name Cashetta, on Saturday evening, Mar. 21, at Act II Stages in Puerto Vallarta.
Weston, a beloved singer, comic, emcee and magician in South Florida, was in Mexico for the winter season performing. According to his best friend and domestic partner, Scott Cirlin, the 44-year-old Weston passed away sometime on the evening of Mar. 15. His body was discovered by friends on the morning of Mar. 16 at his Puerto Vallarta apartment.
Elizabeth Ensor, a founding partner of Act II Entertainment/STAGES, said the local coroner has confirmed through an autopsy that Weston died of natural causes. His body will be returned to the care of loved ones in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, said Ensor.
“He was one of the sweetest performers and people I’ve ever met, always loving and inclusive. People were drawn to him,”Ensor said.
Originally from Little Falls, New Jersey, Weston packed houses locally in Wilton Manors and at venues across the country, including Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Caroline’s Comedy Club on Broadway in New York City, Blue Moon in Rehoboth Beach as well as The Art House, Crown and Anchor in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
