FORT LAUDERDALE — Multimedia Platforms Inc., a LGBT media, technology and publishing company based in Fort Lauderdale, has appointed Major League Baseball’s Billy Bean to its media advisory board as national spokesperson.
Bean is MLB’s Ambassador for Inclusion and a former professional player. He played as an outfielder for the Detroit Tigers (1987-1989), Los Angeles Dodgers (1989) and San Diego Padres (1993-1995). Bean retired from pro baseball in 1995 and came out publicly as a gay man in 1999, when he wrote the book, Going the Other Way: Lessons from a Life in and out of Major League Baseball. He became MLB ambassador in July 2014.
As a national spokesperson for MMPW, Bean will serve as master of ceremonies at high-profile events and fundraisers, help lead the company’s strategic branding and marketing efforts within the global LGBT community, develop key relationships with national, future and corporate sponsors as well as advise on the company’s growth as a publicly-traded company.

Bean lives and works in Los Angeles and sits on the board of the Boston-based Gay and Lesbian Athletics Foundation.
