Low Voter Turnout as Fort Lauderdale Mayor Wins Third Term

FORT LAUDERDALE—Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler won his bid for a third term, easily beating rivals Earl Rynerson and Chris Brennan. The final election tally showed Seiler with 5,437 votes, or 71 percent; Brennan with 1,226 votes, or 16 percent; and Rynerson with 1,030 votes, or 13 percent.

District 3 voters also kept appointed Commissioner Robert McKinzie in office, choosing him over two opponents.

Only 7.2 percent of eligible voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s two elections.
