American Wonders
The photography world showcases so many diverse subjects. From the famous Pulitzer prize winning photos of shooting victims, or hungered babies with vultures circling around, or the depression era family and their dirtied, hopeless faces. Tonight, though, a more optimistic and familiar subject is on display: the beauty of spectacular scenes and animals from national parks across America and around the world. The photography by Albert Barg, Jeff Weisberf, and Brandon Quarters give new perspectives to these awesome spectacles. A wine and cheese reception completes the event. 7 p.m. Pride Center at Equality Park. 2040 N Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors, 33305.

A Queer Philosophical Discussion
As part of the Reading Queer initiative of South Florida, poets Maureen Seaton and Julie Marie Wade discuss the word “queer” and what it means to the artist. Is all art-making inherently queer, particularly in a world that devalues art and consigns most artists to the margins of mainstream work? Could queerness be a kind of potential we all have to express ourselves creatively, apart from gender, race, orientation, etc? These esteemed poets will explore the issue of queerness and the ability to tap into its potent force tonight. 5 p.m. Stonewall Wilton Manors Gallery. 2157 Wilton Dr, Wilton Manors, 33305.
