It’s important for residents to support local businesses, and what better way than with food? Rumors Bar and Grill hosts the 8th annual Taste of the Island in Wilton Manors this year, showcasing the finest foods and libations that our area has to offer.
Held at the beautiful Richardson Historic Park and Nature Preserve this year, Taste of the Island benefits the Wilton Manors library, Wilton Manors Development Alliance, Kiwanis International, and the Wilton Manors Historical Society. The food and drinks come from over 34 restaurants, including such favorites as Dapur Asian Tapas, Courtyard Cafe, New York Grilled Cheese Co., Naked Grape, and of course, Rumors Bar & Grill.
“We are so grateful to all of our sponsors,” said Shirley Nolen, founder of the event. “In particular to the owners of Rumors Bar & Grill for their generosity by becoming our ‘Top Chef Sponsor.’ It’s going to be another great Taste of the Island!”
Whole Foods Market will supply eco-friendly utensils and containers in an effort to continue to make the Taste of the Island a “green” event.
“This is a great charity event wrapped around a fun evening,” said Krishan Manners, CEO of the Wilton Manors Development Alliance. “What a great way for the community to come out and support organizations who support the community.”
If you like to pair spirits with your food, you won’t be disappointed, as Funky Buddha Brewery and Naked Grape will both be present. If you want something non-alcoholic to pair your tasty dishes with, Bohemian Coffee & Teas, Gold Coast Coffee and Juiceblendz have got you covered with a variety of options. It goes without saying that you’ll want to save room for desert.
Make sure to bring cash, as credit cards will not be accepted at any of the locations. Tickets are available for purchase at Wilton Manors City Hall, Hagen Park, the Richard C. Sullivan Public Library of Wilton Manors, the Wilton Manors Development Alliance office and both Barton and Millers Cleaners locations. They are available for $30 in advance, $40 the day of the event.
