WILTON MANORS, FL – New plans are under consideration by the City of Wilton Manors’ Community Services Department for what is now being called the Eden Sports Bar. The new bar will be located on the 2200 block of N Dixie Highway, south of Five Points, on the same property as the originally planned Eden entertainment complex. Construction of the original Eden started in 2008 as an indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant complex over several pieces of property. However, cost overrides and alleged lack of proper permitting and failure to follow building codes shut the project down. Another problem was the lack of parking for such a complex.

There were additional unsuccessful attempts to obtain alternate financing and open Eden as planned.

Since then, the property has been sold and the new owner has scaled back the plans for Eden and will open a sports bar.

Still under the consideration of the city’s Community Development Services Department, plans for the new Eden Sports Bar utilize only the main building and the empty property immediately to the north. The thatch roofing over areas of the main property is to be removed. Since its construction back in 2008, the city contended that the thatch roofing was a fire hazard. The empty lot just north of the main building from Dixie Highway west to NE 11 Ave. will be used for parking.

There are no plans to use any of the buildings south of the main building as there were in the original plans for Eden.
