
There are various proven benefits for eating almonds in our daily diet. It is the best natural fat-burning food. It’s high fiber content helps you lose weight naturally. Additionaly, a high-fiber content helps in proper digestion as well as increasing energy levels.
Consider this: substituting almonds as a snack or adding them to salads and other dishes can lower your cholesterol level and lower your risk of heart disease. One study has shown that by substituting nuts for an equivalent amount of carbohydrates in a regular diet reduced heart disease by 30%, and, when substituted for saturated fats found in meats and dairy products, reduced heart disease by 45%. These are high percentages and make ignoring the many health benefits of almonds quite hard! I use sliced roasted almonds in two of my desserts at “le patio.”
• 3 tablespoons of good olive oil
• 2 teaspoons dried rosemary, crushed
• 1 teaspoon fleur de sel
(hand-harvested sea salt)
• ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
• 2 cups raw fresh almonds
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Using a deep baking sheet, mix the seasonings into the olive oil, and then toss in the almonds. Bake the seasoned nuts for about 10 to 12 minutes, stirring once or twice, until toasted and fragrant. Remove from the heat and serve warm or at room temperature, You are the Chef!
