“SPIRIT OF HOPE” GALA
Broward House’s “Spirit of Hope” Gala – “A Night at the Cotton Club” – will be held on Friday, October 7 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Signature Grand Mansion in Davie, Florida. Broward House’s “Spirit of Hope” galas are one of the most anticipated events of the South Florida social season. This year’s gala is honoring Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Tuesday’s Angels and AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Come out and relive those days of the secretive Speakeasies, where fabulous flappers will be waiting to welcome you. You will be treated to a three-course meal and all the hootch your liver can handle. Throughout the evening, you will be dazzled by the Cotton Club cast. ART FALLOUT
The Girls Club will host Art Fallout in conjunction with the Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts and 18 Rabbit Gallery to support contemporary art in the local community on Saturday, October 16 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Art Fallout will take place at three participating galleries. There will be a free trolley to shuttle people between the venues. Simultaneously, the neighboring artist spaces and galleries will join in and host their own events.
South Florida artists can drop off works to at the Girls Club. There is a $5 per work fee and all works are accepted and presented. A panel of prominent South Florida arts professionals will judge the works in the exhibition on their merits and assign a variety of awards. 18 Rabbit Gallery will be showing “Altered States,” the first exhibition and grand opening of its new space in FAT Village, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. 1310 Gallery presents the juried show, “Myth of Power” curetted by Lisa Rockford. There will also be an open exhibit at FAT Village in the Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale.
SENIOR EXPO
The LGBT Senior Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 22 at The Pride Center at Equality Park, 2040 N Dixie Highway in Wilton Manors. The event will provide LGBT Seniors with a comprehensive overview of healthcare services available to benefit the elder LGBT community. The event will feature a trade show with various LGBT-friendly medical, professional and financial services providers, who are eager to assist our community.
