Super Bowl Hero Would Trade Championship to Stop Same-Sex Marriage

Posted on 24 June 2011

ALBANY, NY – David Tyree, hero of the Giants’ Super Bowl upset over the Patriots in the 2007 Super Bowl said he’d trade the win to block gay marriage according to the New York Daily News. Tyree is best remembered in his career for his miraculous late-game catch in Super Bowl XLII against the Patriots, trapping the ball against his helmet while being pulled down by New England safety Rodney Harrison.

He said that gay marriage would lead to anarchy and that the morality of a country is defined by its law.

He further said he doesn’t oppose benefits for gay couples, but to call it marriage is not something he would ever agree with or think that the government has the right to change the definition of marriage.
