BOSTON, MA – For the first time since the Vietnam War, the Navy ROTC (Reserved Officers Training Corps) will return to the campus of Harvard University, the nation’s oldest college. Harvard officials citing the lifting of the ban on homosexuals openly serving in the U.S. military as the reason for lifting the ban.
The ROTC was first thrown off the Harvard campus due to anti-Vietnam War sentiment, however, even after the war was over, Harvard would not permit the return of the ROTC due to the military’ s anti-homo
sexual polices. Other Ivy League campuses around the country are now considering lifting the ban on ROTC involvement.
