Dear Agenda Editor:
I realize the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and its chain of “Out Of The Closet” thrift stores provide important services to the community, but I can’t understand why they would spend so much money to buy a gas station on East Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, demolish the building, do all of the environmental work required, then design and construct a brand new building.
Did the AIDS Healthcare Foundation really need to build a brand new structure for its thrift shop – especially considering all of the vacant retail/ commercial real estate available in Fort Lauderdale
? The wasted money could have been spent on people with HIV/AIDS.
