
WILTON MANORS – Peter Serge Avsenew, the suspect in last week’s double homicide in Wilton Manors, has been arrested, according to authorities.
Detectives learned Avsenew left South Florida and traveled north to Dundee, in Central Florida. On Dec. 28, Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Avsenew at a residence in the 100 block of West Main Street in Dundee. WMPD detectives, FDLE special agents and Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies are continuing their investigation.
Avsenew, 26, who is from Hollywood, was seen by police driving the victims’ SUV, a 2003 Saturn Vue. Charges have yet to be filed and Avsenew is currently being held at Polk County Jail without bond.
Avsenow has an extensive police record in Florida, which includes a conviction for grand theft, engaging in fraudulent checks, vehicle theft and robbery. He has been taken into custody more than a dozen times since 2003 and uses at least eight different aliases.
On Dec. 26, the deceased bodies of Stephen Duane Adams, 52, and Kevin Mark Powell, 47, were found in their home at 2513 NE Eighth Ave., in Wilton Manors. A sister of one of the victims had called police when her brother had not arrived to her home for the holidays. Police entered the residence and found the two men dead.
Adams and Powell were partners and had been together for 29 years.
