Oprah Winfrey once said, “Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.” That means that the winners of the 2010 Florida Agenda’s Best Of annual reader poll are seizing their opportunity to make an impact now and well into the future. While the individuals, businesses or non-profits are taking home the coveted Florida Agenda Best Of title, the real winners this year are our readers, who continue to support the local LGBT outfits that make our community flourish. It’s thanks to you that the BEST bars, restaurants and nightclubs continue to provide us entertainment.
It’s thanks to you that the BEST non-profits continue to fight for LGBT rights or help the less fortunate in our kinship. It’s thanks to you that the BEST characters in our populace continue to be employed and are able to share their magical gifts and talents. As we take this special issue to salute them, you have the next 51 weeks to make an impact in the community and in the lives of others. And who knows, you could be taking home a Best Of honor next year. But until then, keep volunteering, take advantage of happy hour, enjoy the community theatre – but most of all, keep doing your part to ensure that the LGBT community continues to thrive.
