NEW YORK, NY-
Last week, Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in New York stated that he will legalize same-sex marriage in the state if elected. “I don’t want to be the governor who just proposes marriage equality,” said Cuomo according to the New York Daily News. “I don’t want to be the governor who lobbies for marriage equality. I don’t want to be the governor who fights for marriage equality. I want to be the governor who signs the law that makes equality a reality in the state of New York.” A previous attempt to legalize same-sex marriage in New York died in the state’s Senate last year after it passed in the State Assembly.
