After Equality North Carolina announced that they were going to award NC’s House Speaker Joe Hackney the Equality NC’s L e g i s l a t i v e Leadership Award, State Representative Larry Brown wrote his colleagues saying he hopes all the “queers are thrilled to see him. I am sure there will be a couple of legislative fruit loops there in the audience.” In response Brown’s comments, Equality North Carolina announced that for every donation the organization receives, they will send Brown a box of Froot Loops breakfast cereal, delivered to his office complete with a personal message. Over 250 boxes of Froot Loops were delivered within the first few hours of the announcement.
