WILTON MANORS — Nominations are now being accepted by the Wilton Manors Community Affairs Advisory Board (CAAB) for its first Community Spirit Awards, given to under recognized selfless volunteers who freely give of their time to help others. This new effort will recognize one outstanding volunteer and one business in Wilton Manors for outstanding volunteer service.
From the official press release:
“We’re excited to launch the Community Spirit Awards to engage local residents and business owners to acknowledge those who deserve recognition for their spirit of giving,” said Deborah Allen, chair of the Wilton Manors City Community Affairs Advisory Board. “We encourage the community to nominate qualified candidates as we know there are many deserving individuals.”
Volunteer of the Year will be awarded to a Wilton Manors resident who has consistently demonstrated his or her dedication to the community through civic or charitable volunteer service during 2015. The nominee cannot receive any monetary or personal benefits from their involvement and their volunteer service must be unrelated to their job description.
Volunteer Business of the Year will be awarded to an outstanding business, business association or not for-profit organization located in Wilton Manors or one that provides direct service to area residents. The entity will be recognized for improving the quality of life for residents and promoting the welfare of the community. The business owner is not required to reside in Wilton Manors. The selected honorees will be celebrated at the City of Wilton Manors’ annual volunteer appreciation event in May and at a future City Commission meeting.
