WILTON MANORS—Retired clothier and philanthropist Thom Leffler died at the age of 66.

Leffler was born in Whitmore Lake, MI, to Raymond and Jayne Wells Leffler.  A history major at Albion College, he went into his father’s clothing business, eventually renaming the company Thom Leffler Importer Haberdashery Clothier, headquartered in Birmingham, Michigan.

Before retiring to South Florida, Leffler was known to host lavish charity events in his home state, including an annual Toys for Tots Christmas party. In Fort Lauderdale, Laffler continuously raised funds for the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Pride Center at Equality Park, and Equality Florida.

His friend Joel Slotnick told the Florida Agenda, “I had the honor of knowing Thom over 20 years.  We first became friends at MCC.  Thom was a man truly “dedicated to the cause,” and for many, many years devoted time, talent & treasure to the community at large.   His laughter and smile will be missed and remembered too, by many.  Let us all raise a glass of wine to Thom!”

A celebration of Laffler’s life will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016, from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Pride Center, 2040 N Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors, FL. The Kalis-McIntee Funeral Home is in charge of services.
