In a seven-minute tribute to the victims of the Pulse Nightclub massacre in Orlando, veteran journalist Anderson visibly choked up on his CNN series, Anderson Cooper 360, Monday evening.
Before reading the names of 48 of the 49 victims, along with a short bio of each, Cooper announced that it was his intention to keep the focus “where it belongs”—on those that were slaughtered by a rogue gunman.
“They are more than a list of names. They are people who loved and who were loved,” Cooper said.
As broadcast began, Cooper stated that he would not be saying the name of the shooter, nor show his picture.
“We will not say the gunman’s name or show his photograph. It has been shown far too much already,” said Cooper.
