HOLLYWOOD – The Florida Democratic Party (FDP) Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) Caucus will hold its summer 2012 membership meeting, as part of the FDP’s Jefferson Jackson Weekend, on Saturday, July 14 at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood.
The event—“Storming the Bastion of Repression”—is a salute to the ideals of the 18th Century French Revolution, with specific calls to action told in a modern context: Women’s Liberty to Control Our Own Bodies (LIBERTÉ), Marriage Equality (ÉGALITÉ), and One Human Family (FRATERNITÉ).
In addition to the caucus meetings, the Florida Democratic Party Jefferson Jackson Dinner, the state organization’s largest annual fundraising event, will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night. This year’s scheduled keynote speaker is Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
