CHICAGO, IL – Retailer JCPenney has unveiled its most recent ad to feature a samesex couple—two smiling, real-life gay dads and their kids to honor Father’s Day and Pride month in June. This in spite of opposition from conservative groups, including One Million Moms, which threatened an online boycott of the department store chain last month.
The ad features the family of Chicago-area couple Todd Koch and Cooper Smith, and reads, “First Pals: What makes Dad so cool? He’s the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer, and hug giver—all rolled into one. Or two. Real-life dads, Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason.”
